Pennington, Lies & Cherne, P.A. was co-founded by Kim Pennington in 1982. Tom Lies joined the firm in 1983 and became a shareholder shortly thereafter. Russ Cherne began working at the firm while attending law school, was then hired as an associate, and became a shareholder in 2007. Michael Gaarder joined the law firm in September 2007 after completing judicial clerkships with the Honorable Fred Casey and the Honorable Richard Zimmerman in Crow Wing County.

Since the firm’s founding, our attorneys’ focus has been providing quality, cost-effective legal services to our clients, no matter the complexity of your case. Occasionally, your case may raise a legal issue outside the expertise of our firm. In such cases, our attorneys will either work with or refer you to a specialist in that particular area of law.

The attorneys at Pennington, Lies & Cherne, P.A. are qualified to handle matters at all levels of the Minnesota state court system as well as in federal court at the U.S. District Court in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Kim Pennington is also admitted to practice in North Dakota.

Our firm has been a fixture in Saint Cloud, whether downtown or at our new, readily accessible location at 630 Roosevelt Road. While most meetings take place at our office, the attorneys at Pennington, Lies & Cherne, P.A. may also arrange to meet you at other locations, including your place of business.
